03 Experience
1984-2017
PDC Engineering
Drafting Coordinator
I was to coordinate and facilitate the firm’s drafting department. Through development of standard product production guidelines and nationally accepted graphic standards, I was able to take the lead in the firms talented body of engineers and support staff to evolve hand-produced graphic products into primarily CADD-produced graphic products. All of these objectives were accelerated by an integrated design/drafting add-on software tool that I designed, coded, and implemented throughout the firm and called “CIVIL-MANager”. ‘CivilMan’ became the primary production enhancement to enable engineers and designers to economically produce their own basic engineering drawings and graphics.
1984-2017
PDC Engineering
Civil / Survey Drafter and Designer
My everyday duties started and ended with Civil and Survey drafting tasks, but often had to incorporate Civil design tasks. One such design that I am proud of is the ‘Delta Visitor Information Center’ parking lot, and the ‘Sullivan Roadhouse and Historical Museum’ interpretive entrance walkway, gardens, and interpretive sign supports.
1984-2017
PDC Engineering
Surveyor
I was occasionally utilized for survey field support, typically on nearby jobs that needed a ‘fill-in’ surveyor for the busier seasonal field work.
1980-1984
Key Electrosonic
Mechanical & Electrical Engineering and Design
Based in Milton-Freewater OR, I trained and practiced mechanical & electrical engineering and design of food production line layout, equipment placement, operator walkways, and food processing machinery design: Specifically, belt conveyors, shakers, color sorters, berry decappers, steam blanchers and more.
1978-1980
Toronto Engineering
Civil Design, Survey, and Production
Based in Pendleton OR, Toronto Engineering provided me with multiple opportunities to develop extensive skill in Survey, drafting, river mapping, materials testing, and building inspection for the city of Irrigon, OR.
1974-1978
Restaurant Management
Based in Blacksburg, Radford, Collinsville, and Martinsville VA, I managed troubled restaurants to re-establish product consistency, employee quality, and general profitability of troubled company stores. I gained valuable experience in money management, operations, budgeting, supply and usage tracking, ordering, and labor.
1974-1974
Survey Crew Chief
Based in Roanoke VA, this opportunity provided me with multiple leadership and standard subdivision layout survey tasks. This work gave me my first practical experience with engineering, architecture, and survey after leaving Virginia Tech.
